The project aims to transform grassroots football coaching in Europe by equipping coaches with innovative, evidence-based tools to enhance player inclusion, wellbeing, and long-term participation in sport. Across Europe, grassroots football faces a persistent challenge: high dropout rates among young players, particularly between the ages of 12 and 16. This phenomenon is strongly linked not to lack of ability, but to low motivation, weak sense of belonging, exclusion, and limited attention to players’ psychosocial needs. At the same time, grassroots coaches, who are key influencers of young people’s sport experience, are insufficiently supported with the knowledge and tools required to address these challenges. We will need A Football federation A University (behavioral science + evaluation) One Tech partner (simple AI tool) One NGO (inclusion expertise) A Municipality (policy + scaling) One Women-in-sport organization
